The adhesives division of Henkel Benelux, located at Nieuwegein in the Netherlands, (supplier of e.g. Pattex, Loctite and Pritt) has been using Slim4 software since 1998. The demand forecast, generated by the company's SAP R/3 system was considered inadequate for its optimal inventory management objectives. The interface, created between SAP R/3 and Slim4, is now being used by Henkel's central EDP department in order to standardize future implementations in other countries. Nowadays, Henkel establishments in Italy, UK and Greece are all using Slim4 software.
At the request of Henkel Benelux, Slim4 was enhanced with the addition of a ‘promotions' module. With this module, the effect of planned promotions is superimposed on the forecast and the effect on stock levels can be controlled more accurately.
Another benefit of Slim4 enables the simulation of the effect of increasing service level on the total stock holding; this has proven to be very helpful in discussions with sales and marketing.
